Guitar Chords Used In Bar Chords
When we play bar chords , we traditionally use the E family and the A family of chords.
When we use these chords for bar chords, it is necessary to use certain fingerings so that our index finger is free to play the bar. In other words, we do not use our index (1st) finger when fingering the root chord.

Here is an example using the A7 root chord. In the image below, the A7 has been moved up one fret to create an A#7 or Bb7 chord. The fingered notes on the 2nd fret move up to the 3rd fret and the open strings are barred on the 1st fret. In other word, all the notes (including the open strings) have been moved up one fret.
